_______
MY OFFERING
If all I do is
Walk and write,
Walk
and write,
I pray
That the steps
And the syllables
Would be my prayer.
That the healing
Would overwhelm each poem,
And each passing of the neighborhood,
A quiet and clear
Transformation.
_______
HOLDING ON TO THE LIGHT
I’m grasping
at this evening air,
Wishing
Hoping
Begging
To keep this fantastic, dusky moment alive—
To put it in my pocket,
To bring it back
In the depth of winter,
Its warm glow
Warming my beating heart
For just one more night.
_______
A MIDNIGHT WINK
For even the moon
is whispering to you,
sending signals
night after night.
My dear,
there is no darkness
so deep
that the light
will not shine.
May the moon
be your reminder,
your cue to remember
there’s not a crevice
of the night
He won’t shine.
