On Building a Home You Love Coming Back To

  1. An easy and expected (to you) place to put your suitcase. My carry-on goes under our bed and my bigger checked bag goes in a hall closet.
  2. Takeout from a local neighborhood spot. There’s a Thai spot around the corner from us that hits the spot.
  3. Bone broth in the freezer or lemons + salt for a restorative drink to help minimize inflammation after travel.
  4. Clean sheets—always a little luxury.
  5. Cozy blankets.
  6. Unpacking right when you get back—nothing beats crawling into bed knowing you’re settled and home sweet home.
  7. Candles you love. Signature scent for the house, anyone?! This is one of our favorites.
  8. Filling your house with pieces you love. Being in a space that you love makes it feel all the more delightful.
  9. Bringing home a memento (piece of pottery, antique, etc.) that enriches the story of your home.
  10. A favorite playlist or show you put on while you unpack. I love this playlist and I’m always happy if Gilmore Girls or Grey’s Anatomy is on.

These are a few of the things that always make me feel a sense of peace and contentment after being away. What would you add? Drop them in the comments! xo

My fav pajamas (so soft! And on sale!) / I dream of this blanket—perfectly weighted / The candle we are obsessed with / These electrolytes always help me stay hydrated on travel days (use this link for $10 off your first order ♥️)
