TRAILBLAZING
The thing about fire
Is although it destroys,
It brings things to the light
We may have never been willing to see otherwise.

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE
Today I felt all of the things,
A full range of emotion.

Maybe they’re not all bad;
Maybe they’re just 
An accentuated mix
Of it all

Deeper, more tender
Moments
With my sweet, 
Valid feelings.

Moments I cannot 
Avoid or deny
Or I’d fall apart,
The darkness overtaking. 

So I confront each moment,
Each emotion,
As they are—
To accept the light
And to accept myself.

LAMP LIGHT
The page is here for you 
Even in the height 
of the moon’s ascension.
All you must do
Is turn on the lamp
and grab a pen,
The light illuminating 
each word
Dripping out 
of your heart.
