Chasing the Sun is a collection of poems of hope and light for the dark days of winter. You can read Volume 1 here, and Volume 2 is here.
_______
MORNING COFFEE
As it drips
Seamlessly
Into my mug,
I’m reminded
That coffee
Transcends seasons
And so does
The light.
_______
AUTUMN HUES
There’s a hue
Of amber
And burnt orange
in the air,
Matching the ever fading light
As the sun sneaks
Into its hibernation.
My eyes water at the sight
Of its slipping away,
My heart stale
In the passing of seasons,
Lost in the fading magic
Of what once was.
_______
WHO THE SUN IS
The sun looks that certain way today.
Taunting and teasing,
Tantalizing,
As if it’s trying to say
It’s coming for me,
And that its upcoming absence
will disrupt my joy.
Then I remember
Who the sun really is,
And I smile once more.
