A Love Letter to Sprouts

Dearest Sprouts,

Oh. My.

How have I just now met you, after eight years of living in Texas?! I may not have stepped foot through your doors until the year of our Lord 2024, but oh, how you stole my heart with just one bright-produce-colored glance.

Sprouts—and all employees and investors and fellow shoppers of this fine establishment—you are my people.

Greeted by carousels of fine cheeses and jams and spreads and baked goods of my wildest dreams, how could it get any better than this?

And then I meander back to the produce haven, and it does. Speaking of the produce, can we take a moment to celebrate how you make us walk to the back of the store for it? I know the grocery store product placement psychology is real, and I appreciate that you know what we’re really after––your farm-fresh barrels of fruits and veggies.

Thank you for curating a trustworthy collection of farmers and vendors that hit the mark every single time. That may sound like low-hanging fruit (wink, wink), but unfortunately, that’s not the standard in this day, age, and country. I trust your produce, your products, and your people.

And now a moment for your staff—the kindest, most chipper and happy-to-help people of any store around town. You make shopping and asking my where-is-the-red-lettuce-and-oh-also-the-portobello-mushrooms questions fun. You really do.

I so appreciate your wide variety of gluten/sugar/soy/grain-free brands and options for a Celiac and autoimmune girly like me. Many might call that fun-free, but to me and my body, you provide the nourishment that sustains me, allowing me to live life to the full. A new grain-free cereal brand? Sure! A fun, new-to-me box of gluten-free crackers? Added to cart. I adore your wide selection of products I truly can’t get many other places.

Thank you for your commitment to health and the rainbow of freshly harvested lettuces, peppers, herbs, cucumbers, and fruit that truly can’t be beat. For the first time in so long, you’ve made grocery shopping a delight. I feel a kinship with and a gratitude for you. I’ll see you soon.

Above all, thank you, Jesus, for creating such a thing of beauty and delight. It points me back to your divine, perfect creation. I love you and delight in you.
