PJ’S HOUSE PT. 1
Seated around
Pastel and frill
My heart could finally
Sit still.
We passed and served
Ate and drank
Laughed and prayed
And I realized
All at once—
The sun goes down early now
For it’s almost winter.
Dusk bid farewell
As we gathered inside,
The mild glow
from the chandelier
the only thing
Keeping us warm,
For behind the window
The pitch black sky
Is rattling the panes.

HERE, NOW
October,
I am one day down
One day closer to your departure.
As I’m tucked under covers
This evening,
I wonder:
What if I don’t need
To await your exit
So eagerly,
So fondly,
On the edge of my seat?
What if
The life
And the light
I have to live
To give
And receive
Are here
Today
In your solemn presence?
_______
THE PART OF ME
There’s still
This little part of me
That doesn’t know
How you’ll be
What you’ll bring.
But I think
That’s the human condition.
When will we ever
really know?
