Dearest Jackets,
This should be no surprise coming from a Midwestern girl who’s had to master the art of transitional style and the ebbs and flows of Iowa temperatures, but I love you.
I love the way you complete an outfit. I love the way you take a dress from summer to fall, purely with your long-sleeved protection from the cold. I love the way you source up a basic jeans + tee fit, adding a touch of ta-da.
Mostly, I love that there are so many versions of you… Jean jackets; printed, patterned, technicolor dream coat jackets; ruffled sleeves, stitched detailing, varying lengths/fabrics/styles/buttons/zippers jackets. I love that I will never find an end to you. You are the eternal piece of fashion I can’t wait to keep exploring forever.
You pull me in at any store, on every website, convincing me you will do something none of my other jackets can—that you will express a different part of my soul, mood, attitude, or style. You will be the finishing touch to an outfit and make it pop. Plus, you’ll subside my goosebumps from the chilly Texas AC.
My wishlist for any season almost always features your latest and greatest styles and patterns. I am truthfully obsessed with you and your versatility. Thank you for being my fallback when my brain struggles to invent a stylish “me” outfit.
You are my tried and true fashion friend, and I am grateful.
Above all, thank you, Jesus, for creating such a thing of beauty and delight. It points me back to your divine, perfect creation. I love you and delight in you.
